Day 6: Fully Free

From the moment you accepted Jesus as Savior, Lord of your life, and you gave Him your life, you were free. How is it though, that when we claim to have accepted Him, that we gave our lives to Him, that we serve Him, and that He lives in us, we still live as though we are not free? We humans are complicated, aren't we?

Old habits are hard to knock off. Learned behavior and thinking, sculpted by the culture around us and the voices we hear, sinful nature, so many different factors feed into what we feel is an inability to live fully free and fearless. But there is no inability here, we are not disabled from living in truth and living in the freedom that Christ died for. The debt we owed, He paid, yet we keep walking around with chains around our necks, heavy burdened, "living" as though what Jesus did on the cross wasn't enough so we must keep going on as if we have to pay our sins and life off. That's exactly what the enemy wants us to think, how he wants us to live so that we never fully embrace the freedom that is offered right here in front of us.

You were made for more. You were made for more than to live held back by fear and the lies of the enemy. You were made for more than just proclaiming the name of Jesus but not completely taking hold of Who He is, who He says we are, and the birthrights we obtain through Him adopting us.

"What does living fully free even look like?" is the question I asked myself as I sat down to write this. Jesus, show me what living fully free in You looks like. Living free means letting go of control. Living free means dying to "the way things are supposed to be" and believing for more even when all hope seems lost. Living free means taking the risks, the steps and leaps of faith it takes to go out into the unknown.

Living free means being truly alive in every moment of every day. Living free means embracing the life and love we have in Jesus Christ by not being bound by expectations, fear, worries, burdens, or anything this world tries to enslave us with.

You were made for more than living bound by the expectations the world puts on us. You were made for more than believing that life only gets as good as it is now or as it was at one point. The freedom we have received in our Savior allows us the opportunity to dream and do bigger than we could ever imagine. So don't hold back, Child, you were made to live fully free.

"So you are no longer a slave, but God's child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir." Galatians 4:7

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." Galatians 5:1

"Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." 2 Corinthians 3:17

"So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free." John 8:36
