Day 29: You're Worth It

A Lover calls out to you and He says' "You're worth it". A God who laid down His life in the most barbaric, violent, gruesome, torturous way, Who took the beatings and flogging, Who let death itself take Him away and came back in three days just so He could say to you, humanity, that to Him... You're worth it.

The Lord of all, Jesus Christ, is speaking to us right now with arms wide open, saying, "I loved you even then. Not when you were clean or "perfect" but when I simply saw you as my child, you were worth it. It's not like your sin was light as a feather, no, I took all the weight of your sin in its fullness and heaviness, and I said, child, you are worth it." It's not like we have anything to offer that He couldn't have already by His command... He can have anything He wants whenever He wants it... but this Lover is so true, so honest and free that He gave us the choice, the ones He loves more than all of creation, to accept or reject that love, knowing that there would still be many of us that choose rejection. That never hindered Him though. He knew that love is a choice and not something forced so He lets us choose, and He still chases after our hearts even after we reject Him over and over again.

This world and everyone in it is going to fail you, child. The closest friend, sweetest lover, dearest parent figure, all of them are going to fail you at some point or another. But there is One who will never fail you, never leave you nor forsake you, even after you run away, reject, and fail Him over and over again. He says you are worth it to Him, He says you are treasured, valued, loved, beautiful, talented, brilliant, special, you are His.

We live lives of crippling insecurities when there is a Father in Heaven, and right here in front of us, Who tells us over and over that to Him, we are worth it. We declare we have a hope and a future and that God loves us and that in Him we are found yet we live lives of seeing our future as hopeless, we live as though we are orphans who don't know their Father, and we live lives as lost children in search of a Savior. Your Savior is right here and He already got you out of the dirt and hopeless places you were living. Stop paying rent to the lies of your past, you don't live there anymore and you don't owe it anything, and start taking possession of the land, the home your Father has made for you, He's paid it all for you, because to Him you are so, beyond worth it, child.

"But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life." Titus 3:4-7

"You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:6-8

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." 1 Peter 2:9
