Remember your first real "break-up"? Or the first time someone you truly adored walked out of your life? Or the first time someone really special in your life that you loved dearly moved away or cut you out? Or when that loved one died? Remember the immense amount of pain that consumed your heart? Perhaps that time is now. Maybe you've experienced what you thought was the most heart-wrenching pain in your life, and now you are going through a different experience that is showing you there is, in fact, more pain than what you had felt before. Wherever you're at, I'm sure you've felt the pain of losing someone important to you.
At the end of the day, when lovers run, friends fade, family dies off, and you feel completely alone in this huge world, there is still One who will never run, fade, or die off. There is One who is everlasting and Who's love does not change like shifting shadows and Who's feelings and love towards you never fades or lessens. A lover so gentle yet strong that He holds you both safely and lovingly in His arms. A love so personal that He speaks directly to your soul, not needing words spoken aloud for you to hear. There is a lover who doesn't run and who desires for you to seek Him because He is in that place where you feel the world has left you. God was there before those lovers failed you and faded out of your life, and He is still there after when you finally come running back to Him.
There is only One who can give you true peace. Only One who can heal the wounds and scars and take away your fears and insecurities. I can't stop coming back to talking about the relentless love of God and our identity in Him because I remember the painful times in my life trying to find myself, my worth, my purpose in the love of other people and ending up broken, hurt, and lost. It wasn't until I came to a place of being completely alone that I realized I had no idea who I was or Who's I was. And it wasn't until I came running to the Lover that never runs that I found who I was, Who's I was, and what my purpose was. It wasn't until finally surrendering my life completely, every aspect of it, to Jesus that I found what I was looking for all along-----true, genuine, unconditional, everlasting love.
When you think back on all the memories of the past with former loves, memories that may have been happy then, and you still feel that sickening pain of knowing they're gone, rest in and be comforted in the fact that there was another lover there in those memories as well, one who was there all along. You're never too far gone. You're never too deep in the neglect of your relationship with God, to come running back home into His loving arms. He desires to give you the peace, comfort, joy, and love your soul so deeply needs and craves. He never gave up when you, His love, ran away, and He will never leave you nor forsake you even when you do come back to Him. He is the one who wants you, simply you, more than anything else in this world and He is the one that doesn't give up, even when lovers run.
"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."
