Day 24: Unforgotten Bride

For today's devotional, I want to share something a little different. A few months ago I felt God give me a word, sort of a poem about being the bride of Christ. I shared a tidbit of it in a video but today someone reminded me of that message and told me that God was speaking that word over me personally and that He wants me to share this word with everyone publicly. So here it goes.

You are not forgotten, Bride.

Though your wedding dress waste way in the back of your closet

There is a King

A King who wants to clothe you

To robe you

In righteousness

In purity

In humility

In His perfect love

No, I don't need someone to walk me down the aisle to know the FACT that I am already

Loved and adored

And I am cherished and relentlessly pursued

You see sons, you see daughters,

He wants us

He desires us

And when we start to believe what we think defines us

He says forget that world and what it says you are...

Because you, yes you, are the awaited bride of the One who comes down to our level

To sweep us off our feet and take us to places we never dreamed we could be

Through His perfect love

God slay my heart like in the stories when the prince slays the dragon

For I am the one that blows fire of defensiveness out at you

Yet you flood your grace over me

As I claw at your being, you overwhelm my whole being

With your faithfulnesses

And even through my ugliness and in my running

You chase after me

You chase after the ugly me

The me that no one else sees

The me I'm ashamed of and keep locked away cause

I hated that me

Yet you love me

Every version of me

You want all of me

Not a piece, not a part

Not when I got my life together

Not the religious me or just the broken me

But ALL of me

Every piece, every part

With none left out

No, love doesn't just look like some romantic walk in the park

True, genuine love looks like a bloodied man with His body falling apart

Hanging on a cross with guts hanging out His side

And as He breathed His last, I bet He thought of you and I

Screaming "Bride! I did this for you!

Because I love you more than life itself

And I would do it all again

Just to get to call you

Mine "

Bride... you are not forgotten.

There is no proposal in history or ever could be as sweet as when Christ got down on one knee

Kneeling before you and me

Getting down not just on one knee

But He laid down His WHOLE being to be nailed and tortured

Just so He could propose

"Will you be my church? My bride?

Can it just be you and I?"

Oh Bride... you are FAR from forgotten.

Because His love is so relentless that death itself

Could not keep Him from you

Yes He bled, and Yes He died

But Jesus Christ also resurrected and is now alive

Just so He could call you...

My Bride.

This word is for you. This word is for me. This word is for all of us, being called as the church, the bride of Christ. He adores us and loves us, even before we said "yes" to Jesus He desired us and said, "I want them to be mine". Rest in this truth today, try to take this in as much as you possibly can that the God of all, the perfect, almighty, sovereign Lord wants to call you His. Enter into His presence today, grow in deeper intimacy with the Father, for He wants to just lavish you in His love in such an overwhelming, abundant way. Rest in knowing today, and every single day for the rest of your life, that YOU, my friend, are an unforgotten bride.

“And I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and in justice, in lovingkindness and loyalty, and in compassion. I will betroth you to Me in stability and in faithfulness. Then you will know the Lord." Hosea 2:19-20

"As a young man marries a young woman, so will your Builder marry you; as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you." Isaiah 62:5
