Day 23: Love's Not Blind

Everyone always says that love is blind. We tend to be blind to the flaws of someone we fall in love with and if we do see them we tend to just kind of ignore it because we let our infatuation blind us. It is so funny how humanly/earthly love is often times so opposite of true, perfect love, of God's love.

There is absolutely NOTHING about God's love that is blind. He is not blind to our flaws, faults, imperfections. He is not blind to our sins and our shame. He is not blind to our insecurity and fears. You see, Jesus knew what He was getting Himself into when He said He was going to love you no matter what. He can't be blindsided by anyone or anything, He simply already knows and still chooses to love you no matter the circumstances.

Often times in relationships, it takes time before we start recognizing little ticks of the other person that bother us, flaws they may frequently display, insecurities they may have. And it takes time for others to see that in us as well. That's when things become more honest and raw and people have to decide if they are going to "stick it out" (does anyone else despise this saying or is it just me?) as they say or stay in for the long run despite the things that can or could cause issues later on.

But what is so amazing about God's love is that even from the VERY beginning, before we were even born or formed, He knew all about us. He saw what we struggled with and what we were like. From the beginning He was never blind to the decisions we would make and the faults we would have. Yet even then, before we ever made the decision to love Him back, He already made the commitment to loving you no matter what, for eternity. And He wasn't blind in making that commitment either. He has never been blind, never will be. He's seen it all, and He still says yes to you and me.

He sees the crud, the mess, the ones that are obvious to the whole world and the ones we have hidden away in little cracks and crevices of our being, of our hearts. He sees what you've done and what's been done to you. He isn't blind to the truth because He IS the Truth and He knows all things.

In Jesus, we have a constant Lover who is never blind to our flaws, He isn't afraid of our sin because He wants to take it all away and make us brand new. Yet, even if you don't accept Him, He still loves you. Our Heavenly Father isn't blind to our feelings and thoughts towards Him, He isn't blind to our running, roaming, and searching, He isn't blind to even our rejection of Him, yet our all-seeing, all-knowing God chooses every day to love us no matter what. He doesn't run. He doesn't tap out. He doesn't quit on us. Rest in knowing that the Father has His arms open wide to you today and every day, awaiting your return to His presence and to His love, because true love, Jesus, He isn't blind.

“Am I only a God nearby,” declares the Lord, “and not a God far away? Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot see them?” declares the Lord. “Do not I fill heaven and earth?” declares the Lord." Jeremiah 23:23-24

“His eyes are on the ways of mortals; He sees their every step." Job 34:21

"But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
