Day 8: He Titles Me Warrior
As I was sitting in my room, spending time in God's presence and writing in my prayer journal, there was this random pain that hit me out of nowhere. It was these feelings of shame and regret, it was memories of past mistakes, being rejected, broken relationships, etc. It was the enemy's go-to for me. News flash, Satan, that's not me anymore and those feelings neither control me nor work on me anymore. Nice try though.
When you know God, Who He is, and who YOU are in Him, you know immediately that any binding, shameful, bondage-related thoughts come from the devil himself. Our first reaction should be to tell those thoughts and feelings to go straight back to hell where they came from.
You are a child of God. You are not controlled by those thoughts and feelings. Your God titles you. He titles you as loved, pure, forgiven, warrior, beautiful, strong, courageous, Spirit-filled, world changer, abolitionist, royalty, HIS.
We give our thoughts and feelings way too much control over our hearts and lives. And by way too much, I mean any control at all. God is your God. Not fear, not sadness, not regret. Not happiness, not shame, not anything, except Jesus Christ himself Who died for you, Who nailed your worldly titles, what the enemy says you are, to the cross along with Himself, HE is your God.
Are we being led by the Spirit of God or the spirit of this world? Are we living by what God and His word tells us we are or by the enemy, who does not know our souls from the inside out by the way, and what he says we are? Do we really believe what God says, or do we take Him as a liar and live as though His words are invalid?
The title determines how you live. The title you choose to embrace, the title you decide in your heart to listen to, will map out how you live. Who is truly our Title-Maker? Is it God or the enemy? Becuase if it is God, it is time for us to stop living in our shells of worldly comfort and fear, and to step out in boldness and security of who we are in Christ and do all He has called us to do.
The world sees how we live. If unbelievers see that we are living a life of fear, a life that is just like every other unsaved person, then why would they believe anything about the God we so loudly proclaim? And do we, personally, really want a life like that? A life that doesn't make unbelievers question their disbelief in God, a life that is average, that is stagnant, that is full of regret and being afraid?
He titles me Warrior. He calls me brilliant and vibrant and beautiful. He says my name is faith, hope, joy, peace, and courage. Not doubt or shame or fear or failure... but Warrior.
God has so much more for us, brothers and sisters. Let's start living in the titles HE, our Sovereign, Almighty, All-Powerful King calls us. Your life will reflect the titles you choose to listen to and the Title-Giver you are worshipping. I don't know about you, but today and every day I will choose to proclaim that He titles me Warrior.
"For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God..." Romans 8:15-16
"And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming. If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him. See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure." 1 John 2:28-3:3
"And I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
2 Corinthians 6:18
